Urrea Family Photos

I had to pleasure of taking some family photos for a good friend of mine & I wanted to share a few of them with you all! I had a great time & was so happy that they gave me the chance to capture some fun memories, plus who wouldn't want to snap some pictures of adorable little Emma? I hope you guys enjoy them! This is my first attempt at taking pictures of someone besides my own family.

Finally Inside

Today we went over to the house (like usual) & we lucked out! There was a drywall guy going over a couple spots in the bedrooms, so we were able to go inside.
We were so stoked & Barrett was too. He was literally running around like a crazy man. He thought it was pretty funny that there was plastic on the carpet & was going from room to room, stomping all over it & laughing.
It was so awesome to be able to see everything first hand & basically done! I still can't believe we get the keys in just a couple weeks.
As you can see in the pictures Barrett is just having a blast. I also snapped a picture of the amazing built in trash/recycling center... Whoo hoo! I simply love our stainless appliances against the dark cabinets, Barrett did too & was showing me how he is going to get tons of fingerprints on it all LoL These pictures definitely beat the hazy ones I took through the windows.

Sneak Peek Bedroom

I wanted to share a little sneak peek of my current project for the new house! We got an AMAZING deal off craigslist on the bedroom set that I've been dreaming about. Luckily, with the help of my awesome parents, we were able to get it before someone else snatched it up. Trust me when I say it was a total steal :) It wasn't exactly the color I wanted, but knew that it was worth refinishing. Ben & I have been working on sanding it & have a majority of it primed too! Next weekend it'll get a couple coats of stunning black paint & be all ready for our new master bedroom.
I don't want to give it away & show you the full bedroom set yet, but here is the dresser before & then primed. I'll be posting pictures of it all once it's completely done & in the new house, so stay tuned! Plus I'll be doing a step-by-step instructional post too.
FYI only 11 days until our walk-through & 18 days until we close! Yay!

More House!

Here are some more pictures of the house. It looks like it's basically done! Yay! I can't wait until we move in. Ben has no off-duty to work this week, so that means 3 straight days of packing packing packing! I'm so excited :) I hate that we can't go in & that I just have to peak through the window.

They hung the light fixtures, painted the garage door & front door!

Stalker or Crazy?!?!

I'm pretty sure the construction guys at our new house either thing I'm a stalker or just crazy! I was there, again, today twice. You'd think we lived there already since we're there so much :)
All the tile is done with grout, carpet, appliances installed, all faucets with sinks, bathroom mirrors, toilets & garage lights. I am so excited that the house looks like a house! The doors were all locked up, so I couldn't actually go inside but I was able to get some pictures through the windows (not very good ones, but you can get the gist of it).
They don't have too much more to get done & it's so awesome to know that we get our keys in less than a month. Yay! Future homestead Armatead here we come!
I've also started working on some furniture redos from some great steals I found on craiglist, so stay tuned for my first DIY budget projects :)

Here's a sneak peek at our amazing dark cabinets & the flooring!

Let there be Tile

Well this past week they got all of the tile installed (no grout yet) & finished off the kitchen counter tops.  We were there late on Friday but, the construction guys were still clearing out so we had to wait a bit before we went in to check out the house.  Sadly by the time they left it was already dark out so I wasn't able to take any pictures of the new stuff :( It was still pretty cool to see the flooring & counters! I just wished that we had some lights so that I could get a better idea of what it all looks like together.  I'm so excited to sneak over there again this week.  I figured that with Thanksgiving this week, that they will probably be taking a couple days off.  I still can't believe that we move in less than a month now.  I am so excited & just want to move in already!!!  Once I get a picture of the new stuff I will be posting it for you guys to check out.  I'm a little bummed that I thought the tile was darker than it is, but it still looks super great. Yay!!

Since I don't have a house picture I thought I'd share a cute picture of Barrett, because honestly who doesn't want to see this adorable little boy?? Barrett insisted on putting daddy's work boots on one day & I luckily snapped these super cute photos.

Documentary Part 1

As soon as we signed the papers on our new house I decided that I would 'document' the house we are in now. I know I kind of mentioned it before in a previous post, but I thought it would be something neat to show Barrett later down the room. We've lived here over 4 year now & I didn't want to forget what it looked like. This house means alot to me & I truly am sad to see us leave it.  We have so many amazing memories in this house & I've always felt like this was our home even though we only rent it.  Don't get me wrong I am beyond super excited to be able to have our own place & can't wait to move in, but I'm just sentimental about these things.

Here are a few (not so great) photos I've taken of the house we are in now.  I want Barrett to be able to see where he lived & I thought it would be something neat to share with our family & friends too. I've only taken pictures of part of the house so far, I'll be posting more once I get the rest taken.

This is the main entry way.  I absolutely love our picture wall! It tells our story to everyone who walks in the door XOXO
The famous red half bath.  I have to admit that these picture do not do this bathroom any justice! It took us forever to paint that bathroom & I love how it turned out.
Here is our toy infested living room. Barrett actually has so many toys that we had to move a chair out!
As you can see it's nothing fancy.  We bought this couch about 4yrs ago, it's amazingly comfortable but I would kill to have leather.  Between Barrett, Ben & the dogs it's just too hard to keep clean.
The living room, dining room & kitchen are the whole main part of the house.
I am not happy to share pictures of our master bedroom with you, but here it goes...
Our bedroom is nothing at all.  We literally only have a bed! I took the end table out of the living room for  Ben's night stand, our 'dresser' in a folding table with gift bags & my night stand is Barrett's bassinet that he refused to sleep in.  We are sure fancy! Hey, it's about what's important though.  Barrett? Or a bedroom set? You can guess which one it is :)
And our plain jane master bath & crowded closet.
The floor plan from the builders of the house we are in now.  The only this different is that the 3rd car garage is actually a guest suite with a bathroom.

We don't have anything fancy & most of our stuff I got on clearance when I was working before we had Barrett.  I admit I would kill for a bedroom set or a new couch, but hey it's not like these are things that we absolutely need.  Barrett always come before materialistic things & I would happily get rid of anything we have just to be with him every day.  I'd live with lawn furniture if we had to! All the stuff we do have isn't what makes our house a home.  I hate to sound all cliche & cheesy, but we make it home.  All the laughter, tears & memories make this house special to me.  I will never forget when we first moved in or the day we brought Barrett home.  I'm sad to leave, but memories like that don't leave you.  I'm just lucky that I can take these pictures to save them & show Barrett where he lived his first year.  I'm sure he'll just think I'm crazy though :)
I hope you guys liked taking a partial tour of our plain ole house! Stay tuned for more to come.

Baby it's Cold Outside

Wow how the weather changed here in Arizona! It seems just like this past weekend I was wearing shorts & tank tops, now it's pants & sweaters. I can't believe that our nights are getting down to the mid-40s. The weather has made our walks a little chillier, so I've had to bundle up my little bundle of joy. He sure looks super cute though, but doesn't he always?! :) I hope all your Arizonians are enjoying this cooler weather as much as we are. It sure makes it really start feeling a lot more like Christmas time.

The Inside

Today we got to see some major changes inside our new house! Everything so far has been basic construction, but now they actually started with the 'design' part of it. On top of the newly tiled roof, they put in some of the kitchen cabinets and the bathroom cabinets & counter tops in. I was so exciting to finally see our cabinets in real life. The design center only had a small sample size of them, so I was anxious to see what they would look like in the house & let me tell you, I'm in love with them. I've always wanted deep chocolate cabinets & they are exactly what I thought they would be. Now only if we could've afforded those gorgeous granite counter tops, one day right?! Either way I am super stoked to see things coming together. Only one month away until we get our keys! Yay!!

Here are a couple pictures I snapped with my phone of the kitchen cabinets & also Barrett getting to run around his new house.

Painting

Last night Ben decided he would cruise by the new house & just take a quick peek, surprising they had it all painted! We can't believe that they got it all done inside & out so fast. It's so exciting that our house is actually looking like a house. We will be moving in so soon!!!!

Trick-or-Treat

Even though it's a few days after Halloween I thought I'd share some adorable Barrett pictures & what our night was like...
We had a great evening! Barrett got to go trick-or-treating for the first time. We only went to a handful of houses, but we had a blast. Ooma & Auntie Margaret came with us while uncle Kyle & grandpa handed out candy. The first couple houses Barrett wasn't sure about what was going on, but as soon as he figured out people were putting stuff in his bag he was all excited! It really amazed us how fast that little stinker bug caught on to it all. After trick-or-treating we headed back to our house to play a bit & then everyone headed home. As we were waving bye outside nana & papa pulled up, so it was more fun play time! Barrett just laughed & ran around like a crazy man. He was pretty hyped up on the little bit of candy that grandpa & auntie gave him, so papa helped tire him out :) He was so exhausted that after bath & story time he didn't even want me to rock him. It was straight to bed & he literally just passed out! We definitely had a fun & memorable halloween! I hope everyone's halloween night was as fun & safe as our's was.

Here's some pictures of our little blue monster! As you can see I dressed up as a witch.

Coming Along

Well I figured I better do a little update on the house building status. We got an email a couple weeks ago with our official closing date, which is set on December 13th. We are super excited to know when we can actually move, but bummed that it's so close to the holidays. The house really seems to be moving along though, we still go over there a couple times a week to scope out the place. We were over there again this afternoon & they had just finished up installing all the doors! It really makes it look more like a house now. Barrett was just excited as we were & he ran around the place like a crazy man. He is obsessed with shutting doors, so he was going to town closing all the doors. Hearing him laughing & running around really made it feel like our home. I started packing up some more stuff today, even though we have a month & a half to go I know that it will fly by pretty quickly.
